How do I become a dental assistant in the State of Florida?

A.

dental assistant schools in lake countyEnroll in our 10 week program.  Complete the program and the 40 hour externship.  At the completion of the program, you will receive a dental assisting certificate.  Then, required by the Florida Board of Dentistry, you must work for 6 months continuously in a dental office to gain experience.  Once you have completed that, you are eligible to take our Expanded Functions Dental Assistant two day course to become an EFDA dental assistant.  You are also eligible at that time to take our Dental Radiology one day course to become certified to take x-rays.  At the completion of our 10 week program, you are considered an entry level dental assistant.  With the experience and completion of the EFDA and Radiology course, you will be fully certified to work in Florida.

How much does your program cost?

The 10 week program is $2,500.00.

The EFDA Course is $600.00.

The Radiology Course is $350.00.

Are there any other fees associated with the courses like books, supplies, etc?

A.

We provide everything you need to succeed!  You will need to wear ceil blue scrub uniforms and a white lab jacket, so if you do not have them, then yes, this will be in addition to the cost of tuition.

Do you offer payment plans?

A.

Yes we do!  We offer 3 options for the 10 week program.  They are listed on the enrollment form.  The EFDA and Radiology courses must be paid in full prior to attending the course.  We accept cash, checks or credit card payments.

How long are the classes?

A.

Remember, the 10 week program is on Saturdays so you still have the ability to work during the week.  Class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Our EFDA and Radiology courses are offered Friday through Sunday.  Class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What do I need to bring to class?

A.

You will need to bring a folder, paper, pen and pencil to class each week.  We provide everything else.

How will I complete my externship?

A.

We have contracts with several dental offices in Lake and Orange County to help with placement.  We do not guarantee placement, however, we work hard to help you find an office to complete this component of the course.
